This alternative rock band out of Southeast Los Angeles the Gateway cites as they have become to be known. The group is composed of four “working class rockers” who blend their musical influences such as the Beatles and Los Panchos over modern rythmic grooves. They birth new sound escapes and musical odysseys with their modern retro sound.
The Appletons and record producer Byron Brizuela teamed up to record their self titled debut album. The record is filled with a bouquet of catchy songs that speak to the fans looking for something refreshing to connect to.
The Appletons showcase 14 musical gems on this record that accent the Appletons’ unique musical signature expressed over different styles and sounds. Jeannette Lopez’s lead vocals are reminiscent of some of the great female performers before her. Her style is “vintage-fresh,” soothing and hypnotic, bold yet sensitive. Chris Garza’s melodic bass lines and Ulyses’ uplifting lead guitar riffs dress Carlos Ramirez’s rhythm guitars.
The Appletons Song Lyrics
love
all that you long, all you impose
is all that you’ll ever be….
how boring is that, to measure your life….
with all you deserve, and want more and more
taking from those who starve
why should you care, why should you dare
to feel….something that’s real
you can always touch your heart and know that it’s real
you can always change your mind and learn how to feel
love…oh love….please change our minds
save us from greed, grant us the need….
to feel….something that’s real
well, you can always touch your heart and know that it’s real
you can always change your mind and learn how to feel
what will you take into your grave
if not all the things you’ve said
you can always touch your heart
and know that it’s real
you can always change your mind
and learn how to feel
a minute of hope
if poison’s alright to have by your side
you’ll always glean what’s behind
you barrel your fright and hide it with lies
sometimes you scream with your eyes
oh….you take what is worth, no matter the hurt
and you….dance in the dark and wait for a start
we rather secure a minute of hope
and laugh while we cry with dry eyes
the picture you keep of your younger springs
is to hope that you’ll pain will rewind
oh….you take what is worth, no matter the hurt
and you….dance in the dark and wait for a start
you’re holding, you’re holding to things you’ll regret
you’re asking the questions that nobody gets
you’re breathing the air that people infest
to make sure that you’re right and wrong
oh….you take what is worth, no matter the hurt
and you….dance in the dark and wait for a start
you’re holding, you’re holding to things you’ll regret
you’re asking the questions that nobody gets
you’re breathing the air that people infest
to make sure that you’re right and wrong
wedding song
once in every life, there comes a time of happiness
and tonight, i raise this glass and celebrate
i remember those nights, who was wrong or right
but tonight, because you said yes, you win all the fights
hold my hand and hang my coat
let me love you til’ i’m old
and when the sun is set and gone
it will be you and me
when you’re tired and you’re cold
i’ll light a fire in our home
and when the sun wakes up once more
it will be you and me
once in every life there has to be a child indeed
a little boy, a little girl, they’ll look like you and me
i’ll run home every night and kiss my love goodnight
and tonight because you said yes, let’s turn off the lights
hold my hand and hang my coat
let me love you til’ i’m old
and when the sun is set and gone
it will be you and me
when you’re tired and you’re cold
i’ll light fire in our home
and when the sun wakes up once more
it will be you and me
summer days
summer days, your eyes
summer days, your eyes
how you made me smile
how you made me laugh
how we danced that night and swore that it was love at first sight
summer days, how nice
summer days, how nice
how you held my hand
how you sang my name
how you touched my face and said that love had come for you and i
do you remember my name?
because i remember yours was summer days (summer days)
do you miss those nights?
because i miss those lies from you
but now it is through, and how is this through
remember me
i abhor the silence from my rested violence, in my dreams
when my eyes felt crowded and my thoughts screamed louder than streams
where was my guide that shoved me aside?
remember me
remember me
i retrieved the bleeding, like you i stood believing in kings
i also nursed my grieving with hash and other feelings in me
how to deny my real life?
remember me
remember me
did you take the dream?
did you sell our need?
to take a little time as one, we’re one, we’re one
remember me
remember me
how will i know to fold all of my goals?
when will you sing my song, when you’re alone?
remember me
remember me
melody No. 5
judas stuck to the plan
caesar sharpened the fang
nero stole the last dance
jesus whipped hypocrites
dante wrote your blind faith
which circle will you stake?
are you feeling drapes in your eyes
are you seeing graves aligned?
how is your right proclaimed?
where is your faith engraved?
and what does gravestone say………..
are you seeking traces of life?
are you quoting phrases of past?
‘cause i feel it in my yawns sometimes
and i feel it in my lungs alive
are you getting what you made in time to set your mind free?
are you paying all the debts you took away while talking?
i don’t get it, i would like to be your soul
i regret it, if all that i am is all that i sold
‘cause i feel it in my yawns sometimes
and i feel it in my lungs alive
drunk and in love
what a nice night to cry all by myself
and to think that you might be kissing someone else
you say that it’s time i drink bitter hurt
well if that’s what you want boy, i’ll say goodbye with this song
i’ll remember those nights
drunk and in love
how we danced slow and tight
and dedicated each song
what a sad way to end this book without words
without a smile on your face
you leave my heart at the door
please remember that night how you cried and i bled
and you promised my heart that your love would never end
i’ll remember those nights
drunk and in love
how we danced slow and tight
and dedicated each song
now i know that you might love someone else
well it runs through my heart of rags to know that i failed
table memories
what a beautiful night to feel my eyes cry
what a sentimental lie to assume that you’re still mine
would it be so impolite of me
to ask what i failed to be
for you to leave this song behind
would i be behaving perfectly
to request a final melody and sing in prose about your lies
well my heart can only take so much
and this pain dwells in this empty glass
i beg you fool, here’s my guitar
what a marvelous disguise to prop a smile at times
what an extraordinary lie to say your love’s behind
would i be disclosing secret things
if this song makes a fool of me
when i am drunk, remembering your smile
would it be really dumb of me
to add that you’re in love with me
and just pretend your watch is behind
well if they ever break your break
like you broke mine
please come back home
you can break mine….
half my time
half my time i spent it chasing friends
while half the world was waiting for the end
and half the gods i knew i had to pay with pain
half my thoughts were always left unsaid
well half my compliments were for the dead
and half my payers meant to contemplate my shame
that i can’t change
i can’t change
now they rather that i stay indoors
(and shut my mouth)
‘cuz all the things i learned were always wrong
(they scream and shout)
well half my laughs were only seconds long instead
i can’t change
i can’t change
stop the beating if the song slows down
stop the bleeding when the lights go out
is it too late
is it too late
rays of light
if your hands shakes are opinions use your eyes instead
next time you feel luck upon you the decks will change
if you’re conscience fails to get you they will deal again
to feel just one next day
and hold a sunray
if you ask if i believe you that all depends
when you ask if i can see it well not the same
to feel just one next day
and hold the sunray
to feel the touch of ray
and feel its warmth
how many time you ask what’s wrong, stop and smile and ask how you’re doping
how many days you waste alone, how many times we don’t take fault
to feel just one next day
and hold the sunray
to feel the touch of ray
and feel its warmth
today
i heard all the things you said
how should i pretend you care
the more i give the more you take
those little lies you failed to fake
when you said my name
what’s the use of staying my friends
i prefer to leave this cage
you never give you only take
but this abuse is my mistake
i think i’ll fly away
i am a strong girl
i’m a new girl
today
i’m going to start a new life today
full of me and free of pain
no more shame no more games
today is the day my life begins
i’ll never be the same
will never sbe the same
i’m a strong girl
i’m a new girl
today
i am superwoman and i’m feeling invincible
i am starting over today and never will let go, oh no….
today
i am gonna liberate myself with new thoughts
i’m taking all i gave and nothing you got
no one is gonna play again with my heart
i’m a strong girl
i.m a new
i’m my own girl
today
i’m a strong girl
i.m a new girl
today
time
it’s like a lithe, aside, but you can never make it
right, one side, one knife, well you can always fake it
it’s time
it’s time…….
am i, the lie, you hide, that you can never take it
back, just like, a cry, but you can never bend it
it’s time
it’s time…….
i can always tell you about the end of the world
exclude and gather stills until we make up our own
one of those, you know the ones that waste your time
one of those, you know the ones that help us rewind
that time….
inside, behind, a lie, but you can never help it
shine, rewind, the lie, that you will always chase it
time…..
it’s time
that you can never change it
it’s time
that you can never help it, never help it
it’s time
butterfly
you tremble like a violin in fear
you nurture those serpents in your eyes
in time you’ll feel my grin near boy
in time, in time, you’ll know dear boy
you swallow the butterfly in me
my gestures have nearly run dry
and now i hear the near of spring boy
it’s time, it’s time; you yield your seed boy
every little bit of virtue is fading out
every little bit of virtue is falling out
one is to hold the monster alone while others refrain from time
i’ll get you through, i’ll get you through, i’ll get you through the light
every little bit of virtue is fading out
every little bit of virtue is falling out
one is to hold the monster alone while others refrain from time
i’ll get you through, i’ll get you through, i’ll get you through the light
even when….
love is a story
of all the things you ever wanted to feel right
and even when the world was not in tune you always found it right
love is a worry
of all the things you never wanted in your life
and it can sometimes seem so useless and sometimes vile
and when your arms entwine the edge of solace
and all the things you’ve done just fade
and no one seems to realize that loving causes so much pain
remember that i’ll never leave, know that i will carry on
even if the things in life just never seem to match the things you’ve done before
remember that i’ll never leave, know that i will carry on
be strong don’t you worry
you make a better world by being who you are
even when the answers that we find don’t seem to be right
and when your arms entwine the edge of solace
and all the things you’ve done just fade
and no one seems to realize that loving causes so much pain
remember that i’ll never leave, know that i will carry on
even if the things in life just never seem to match the things you’ve done before
remember that i’ll never leave, know that i will carry on
love is all we got
love is all we are
love………….
and when your arms entwine the edge of solace
and all the things you’ve done just fade
and no one seems to realize that loving causes so much pain
remember that i’ll never leave, know that i will carry on
even if the things in life just never seem to match the things you’ve done before
remember that i’ll never leave, know that i will carry on
